We thought about getting creative but the truth is there is no better way for us to begin than by listing the best public and private golf courses in your area. After they are out of the way we will mention the best golf stores to buy new clubs, bags, balls, tees, apparel, and all kinds of great gear.

Best Golf Courses In Boston

Many would agree that the best public and private golf courses in Boston are:

Fresh Pond Golf Course is a 9-hole municipal par 36 course with a length of 3,000 yards which opened in 1932.

Newton Commonwealth opened their 18-hole golf course near you in 1897 which has a course rating of 67, slope rating of 125, and a total length of 5,305 yards.

You can find a private 18-hole par 72 course with 6,657 total yards, a 72.7 rating, and 131 slope rating at Charles River Country Club which opened in 1921. It also has a nice pro shop that offers a variety of services from custom club fittings and regrippings to clothing, clubs, balls, and everything in between.

Wellesley Country Club opened in 1910 and has a private 18-hole par 71 course with 6,903 total yards.

Many people have been playing at Sandy Burr Country Club’s private 18-hole par 72 local golf course since it opened in 1922 and it has a total length of 6,427 yards.

Wayland Country Club also has a private 18-hole course with a length of 6,836 yards for a par of 70. If you are trying to find the best places to take golf lessons in your area expect most of the above to have PGA Certified trainers on staff

Golfers’ Warehouse in Braintree offers full service club repair, golf clubs, golf balls, bags, carts, apparel and golf shoes.

Club Champion in Needham specializes in custom fittings and has over 50,000 head, grip, and shaft combinations to choose from.
